NEW DELHI: South Africa’s triumphant march to their maiden ICC World Test Championship title has translated into significant gains in the latest ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings, with several Proteas stars being richly rewarded for their match-winning performances at Lord’s.Aiden Markram, the Player of the Match in the WTC Final, headlined the rise, jumping seven places to 11th in the Test Batting Rankings – just two points shy of New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell in 10th. Middle-order batter David Bedingham climbed 17 positions to 40th, while Lungi Ngidi’s inspired spell lifted him seven places in the Bowling Rankings to joint 37th.

Kagiso Rabada, who claimed nine wickets in the final, retained second place in the Bowling Rankings, just behind India’s Jasprit Bumrah, who continues to dominate with 908 points.Australia’s Mitchell Starc broke into the top 10 in both the Bowling and All-Rounders’ Rankings following a five-wicket haul and a gritty second-innings half-century. Beau Webster also gained 13 places in the batting charts.

Meanwhile, Indian players held their ground in the rankings. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant are ranked 4th and 8th respectively among batters, the only Indians in the top 20. Ravindra Jadeja remains joint 10th in the Bowling Rankings alongside Starc and continues to top the All-Rounders’ list.
