BOSTON — Red Sox pitcher Tanner Houck gained stitches and was once looked at at a health center next he left Friday’s matchup with the New York Yankees when struck at the face with a layout force.
“He was conscious the whole time, so that’s good,” supervisor Alex Cora stated next Boston’s 15-5 win. “He’s got a cut, he’s in the hospital right now getting further tests. Obviously, we’ll know more at the end of the night. But he got lucky.”
With Boston chief 10-1 within the 5th inning, Brandnew York’s Kyle Higashioka led off and fell at the back of 1-2 within the depend, ahead of lining Houck’s 92 mph sinker immediately up the center and hitting Houck. Cora stated it shorten him in his cheek branch.

He lined his nostril with a towel and raised his left fist to the folk as he walked ill the stairs into the dugout. Houck was once changed through Joe Jacques.
Houck allowed one run and 4 hits, with two strikeouts and a go.
