In the Indian Premier League, foreign players are an essential component of every squad. A team may have a maximum of 8 foreign players on its roster, but only 4 may participate in the starting 11. It’s not surprising that teams make significant investments in international players given the enormous value they add to the IPL.
Two foreign players received the two highest salaries in IPL history during the IPL 2023 Auction. Mumbai Indians paid INR 17.5 Cr to get Ben Stokes, whereas PBKS paid Sam Curran’s salary of INR 18.5 Cr. But how do the 10 teams’ foreign players compare? Let’s examine the order of the 10 teams depending on the number of foreign players.
Teams are ranked based on their overall player ratings to assist us determine the ranking. The rating for each player is calculated by their performance in the IPL over the previous three years as well as their current international or domestic form. Players are relative rated based on the benchmark players.
#10: Mumbai Indians – 7.906
You might be surprised by the calibre of foreign players in MIs lineup, especially at No. 10. Archer, Dewald Brevis, Tim David, and Tristan Stubbs are some of MI’s explosive international players. Brevis, David, and Stubbs are generally less regarded because they lack experience, with the exception of Archer who did not play previous season.
