Old age claimed the life of veteran Telugu actress Jamuna, who played the female lead opposite famous N T Rama Rao and other former leading men. She was 87 years old.
According to family members, she passed away on Friday morning as a result of age-related problems.
Jamuna, who gave mythical films the character of Satyabhama its immortality, began performing on stage at an early age and went on to appear in more than 200 movies.
Jamuna primarily appeared in Telugu movies, but she also appeared in a few Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi movies.
She received the Filmfare honour for the Hindi movie Milan.
Her films have become classics, such as “Missamma,” “Gundamma Katha,” and “Sri Krishna Tulabharam.”
In 1989, Jamuna was chosen to represent the Congress in the Lok Sabha by voters in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. Former vice president M. Venkaiah Naidu, union tourism and culture minister G. Kishan Reddy, chief minister of Andhra Pradesh Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, and president of the Jana Sena Party Pawan Kalyan all expressed their condolences on Jamuna’s passing.
