Zakir Hussain’s Family Posts Heartwarming Picture For The First Time Since His Death: “Forever Together In Love”

Zakir Hussain was laid to rest at a San Francisco cemetery on Thursday. Today, his family shared a heartfelt post from his official Instagram account for the first time since his death.

The black-and-white picture which shows the hands of Hussain, his wife Antonia Minnecola, daughters Anisa and Isabella Qureshi held tightly together, is not dated.

The caption of the post read, “Forever together in love,” followed by a red heart emoji. Also, all four of them were tagged in the post.

As soon as the picture was shared, it received a lot of love from his fans and fellow musicians.

Hussain’s followers, including his Shakti bandmate Shankar Mahadevan, musicians Karsh Kale, Ankur Tewari, Hariharan and Pakistani artiste Ali Sethi, liked the post.

Musician Salim Merchant wrote, “Everyone has a little bit of Ustad in them. You’ve inspired and will continue to inspire everyone,” while Anoushka Shankar wrote, “Only love,” followed by three red heart emojis.

Several others also dropped emotional commented on the post. One user wrote, “Rest in peace master, your legacy and your teachings will love on and continue to guide people for generations. We will miss you,” and another wrote, “Every single Tabla student has a personal connection with him,” and another commented, “Feels good to see a post from this account. Please continue posting. Legend always lives.”

Hundreds of his admirers gathered at his funeral to pay their last respects. Sivamani and several other musicians played drums at a little distance to pay him a tribute.

The celebrated musician, one of India’s most well-known, received four Grammy Awards in his career spanning six decades, including three at the 66th Grammy Awards earlier this year.

Hussain, who was the son of tabla legend Ustad Alla Rakha, received the Padma Shri in 1988, the Padma Bhushan in 2002, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2023.
