Girls Trip 2: After The Massive Success Of Season 1, Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith & Tiffany Haddish Reunite For An Adventure In Ghana

'Girls Trip 2' To Bring Back Entire Cast

West Africa will be visited in the “Girls Trip” sequel starring Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Tiffany Haddish.

Co-writer of the original 2017 comedy, writer-director-producer Tracy Oliver attended the Variety Studio at Sundance and gave an update on the upcoming reunion of Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Tiffany Haddish.

While promoting the second season of her Amazon Prime Video series “Harlem” at the festival, Oliver claimed to have a “definitive ‘Girls Trip 2’ update. that it is formally taking place. I’m able to say that. While the movie’s producer Will Packer “may kill me, we’re looking to place it in Ghana,” she also gave a narrative update.

After Oliver revealed the information, actress Shoniqua Shandai, one of his “Harlem” cast members, yelled “Afrochella!” She is referring to the yearly Afrochella festival, which is Ghana’s largest cultural and musical gathering and takes its name from Coachella, an American flower crown festival. The event, which has drawn notable musical artists from the area, like Shatte Wale, a collaborator with Beyonce, has captivated the ladies of “Girls Trip,” according to Oliver.

The production schedule is not yet known because Oliver has not yet turned in her script. With a low $16 million budget, the first “Girls Trip” was a big box office success, earning $140 million globally.

The film was produced by Packer, directed by Malcolm D. Lee, and co-written by Olvier and Kenya Barris from a plot they developed with Erica Rivinoja. It also helped Haddish, who was lately in controversy, become a household name.

The Blackening, Oliver’s critically praised horror comedy, had its world premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. Oliver has been on a festival tear recently. Following TIFF, Lionsgate bought the Tim Story-directed film, and it will be released on June 19th. A weekly release of “Harlem,” starring Meagan Good, Grace Byers, Jerrie Johnson, and Shandai, will begin on Prime Video on February 3.
