In the most recent Shark Tank India 2 ad, judge Namita Thapar opened out about experiencing body shaming. The shark said that she had experienced body bullying as a teenager. The channel’s promotional film demonstrates how business owners explained why they would want to produce apparel for plus-sized persons while pitching their clothing line.
They were questioned by Namita, the executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, on why they had not considered designing apparel specifically for people who are plus-sized. Namita claims that she was humiliated and called names like “aft” and “moti.” The main issue, according to the pitcher, is how plus-size individuals are seen in the profession. However, they won’t feel excluded by their brand because there isn’t a specific size chart for them.
Namita has discussed body shame before, so this isn’t the first time. Namita revealed to Chetan Bhagat last year that she experienced bullying when she was 21 due to her weight, excessive facial hair, and acne. She claimed that she formerly felt unattractive and that no guys would even look at her. She even mentioned how having been body shamed as a youngster left many wounds. She further claimed that a student in her class referred to her in Marathi as “the girl with the moustache.”
