Security beefed up for Sri Lanka team after Islamabad blast; PCB chief assures 'fool-proof' safety

Security has been tightened around the visiting Sri Lankan cricket team in Pakistan after a deadly suicide bombing rocked Islamabad on Tuesday, killing 12 people and injuring several others. SUBSCRIBE NOW!Sources told PTI that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as the Federal Minister for Interior, personally met Sri Lankan officials and players to reassure them of “fool-proof security” arrangements. Naqvi visited the stadium on Tuesday to oversee security measures and brief the team about additional steps taken following the attack.

“Security has been beefed up with Pakistan Army and the paramilitary Rangers now deputed to monitor safety for the visiting players and officials,” a PCB source confirmed.Pakistan’s Interior Ministry has indirectly blamed Afghanistan’s Taliban-led government for allowing the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to operate from its soil.
