The World Cup-winning Indian women’s cricket team met President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday. During the meeting, team captain Harmanpreet Kaur presented a team jersey with signatures from all players to the President.The Indian team secured their first global title in women’s cricket with a 52-run victory over South Africa in the 50-over World Cup final in Navi Mumbai on Sunday. This achievement marks a historic moment for cricket in India.
President Murmu praised the team’s historic accomplishment and highlighted their role in inspiring young people.“Members of the Indian Women Cricket team, winner of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President congratulated the team and said that they have created history and have become role models for younger generation. She said that this team reflects India. They represent different regions, different social backgrounds, different circumstances but they are one Team — India,” she wrote on X.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur presented the World Cup trophy to President Murmu during their interaction.The team had previously met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.In the meeting with PM Modi, India women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur reflected on their earlier 2017 meeting with Modi, where Team India came as the runner-ups and then expressed pride in returning as champions.
