India hit the ground running on Day 2 of the 3rd Test at Lord’s, with Jasprit Bumrah making an impact on his return to the playing XI after being rested for the Edgbaston Test. Having dismissed Harry Brook on Day 1, Bumrah followed it up with a sensational four-wicket haul on Day 2 that turned the tide in India’s favour. Another moment that captured hearts came when Mohammed Siraj finally removed England’s Jamie Smith. Earlier, KL Rahul had dropped Smith at second slip when he was on just 5 runs. The error proved costly as the batter went on to score 51. However, when Siraj eventually got his man, the celebration that followed was as emotional as it was memorable. After claiming Smith’s wicket, Siraj held up his fingers to signal the numbers ‘two’ and ‘zero’. It was later confirmed that the pacer’s gesture was a tribute to the late Diogo Jota, the Portuguese footballer who tragically lost his life in a car crash in Zamora, Spain, on July 3, 2025. Siraj also pointed to the sky as a symbol of respect for the late footballer.Jota, who played for Liverpool and the Portuguese national team, died along with his brother Andre Silva in the crash. The number ‘20’ referred to Jota’s jersey number at Liverpool.
