Recently, her popularity got a boost when the show won the award for Best Reality or Best Non-scripted Series at the 25th IIFA Awards held in Jaipur last weekend. As soon as she came to speak on stage, the audience cheered loudly for her, which made it clear that she had achieved an enviable fan following. But it seems like she’s now faced a roadblock. It has come to light that Shalini Passi and her husband Sanjay Passi have been called for questioning over a tax evasion issue.
BREAKING: Shalini Passi summoned by GST intelligence in connection with tax evasion of over Rs. 20 crores
As per reports, Shalini Passi has been summoned by the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) in Meerut for questioning regarding alleged Goods and Services Tax (GST) evasion of over Rs. 20 crores. The inquiry is linked to a suspected short payment of GST by Pasco Motors LLP, a major Tata Motors dealer specializing in heavy motor vehicles.
Shalini Passi was a former partner of Pasco Motors and the summons were delivered to her on March 11. It stated that the inquiry is a judicial proceeding and non-compliance could lead to legal consequences. This follows a previous summons to Pasco Motors on November 28, 2024. The reports further added that Shalini is expected to provide a statement and relevant documents before tax authorities today, that is, on March 13.
J K Mittal, lawyer of Sanjay Passi, has denied any tax evasion. He told The Times of India, “GST summons issued by the DGGI is malafide and the information of tax evasion is not mentioned in the said summons at all.” He also revealed that the matter is presently sub judice and has been challenged in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He further noted that Shalini Passi exited the firm in 2021.
The case continues to unfold as authorities probe further into the alleged discrepancies in GST payments.
