Barcelona 3-1 Real Madrid (Mar 12, 2025) Game Analysis

Barcelona exerted their dominance over Real Madrid once again on Wednesday with a 3-1 Clásico win at the Johan Cruyff Stadium as they booked their place in the final of the Copa de la Reina.

Substitute Ewa Pajor struck twice in the second half after Patri Guijarro had opened the scoring as Barça chalked up an 8-1 aggregate win after last week’s 5-0 victory in Madrid.

Signe Bruun did net a stoppage time consolation for Madrid, which ended the visitor’s run of seven games without scoring against Barça, but it could not stop them falling to an 18th consecutive defeat against the Catalans.

Atlético Madrid host Granada in the other semifinal on Thursday with a 2-0 lead from the first leg. The winner will be tasked with stopping Barça from winning the competition for the fourth time in five years.

The result of the tie was never in doubt after the first leg, but Madrid came into the game with the hope of beating Barça for the first time since they were formed in 2020.

However, that never looked likely once Caroline Graham Hansen‘s smart pass set up Guijarro to open the scoring in the 24th minute.

Pajor, who scored a hat-trick when the sides met last week, was introduced at the break and within three minutes she had scored Barça’s second. The Polish striker added another in the 68th minute when she headed in Fridolina Rolfö‘s cross.

Madrid finally had something to cheer in stoppage time when Bruun turned home Olga Carmona‘s cross. Alberto Toril’s side will look to build on that goal when the sides meet for a third time this month on March 23 in Liga F at the Olympic Stadium.

Just five points separate the two teams at the top of the league, with Barça leading the way with nine matches still to be played.

Both clubs remain in the Champions League, too. Barça meet Wolfsburg in the quarterfinal, while Real Madrid will take on Arsenal.

Barça are targeting a second successive quadruple having already won the Spanish Supercopa this season. Madrid are still searching for their first ever trophy.
