The start of India-Pakistan match at the Champions Trophy was marked by Jasprit Bumrah receiving International Cricket Council (ICC) awards and Team of the Year caps for his stupendous performance in 2024.
A back injury during the fifth Border Gavaskar Trophy Test at Sydney prevented Bumrah from participating in the Champions Trophy.

On Sunday, Bumrah arrived in Dubai ahead of the big game and was presented the awards and caps by ICC chairman Jay Shah.
Bumrah earned the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year distinction alongside the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Award following his remarkable performance in 2024.
His achievements included claiming 71 wickets in Test cricket at an impressive average of 14.92. Additionally, he secured the ‘Player of the Tournament’ title at the T20 World Cup hosted in the USA and West Indies, where he captured 15 wickets in India’s triumphant campaign while maintaining an exceptional average of 8.26 and an economy rate of 4.17.
His outstanding year was further recognised with the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year award, during which he set a record as the quickest Indian fast bowler to reach 200 Test wickets. His excellence earned him positions in both the ICC Men’s Test Team of the Year and ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year.
