Hackman welcomed his first child with Maltese in 1960, Christopher Allan Hackman. In 1984, during an interview with journalist Leta Powell, he was asked if he ever stopped hugging his son, who was then in his 20s, and instead went in for a handshake.
The actor replied, “No, we still hug to this day, and I thank God that we are able to do that.” He added, “I don’t think we’ll ever have a point where we have to shake hands. That was a real stretch for me in the film and one of the coldest things that one can do is not be aware and be insensitive to that need of a child to be wrapped in a father’s arms,” as reported by People.
Elizabeth Jean Hackman, 61
The couple had their second child, a daughter named Elizabeth Jean Hackman in August 1962. As Hackman rarely talked about his personal life and family in interviews, there is very little known about Elizabeth. However, Hackman’s secondborn was often spotted at the events alongside him like during the screening of Superman in 1978 in Wahington, DC.
Years later, she was captured alongside Hackman, her younger sister, Leslie and stepmother, Betsy Arakawa during the screening of The Chamber in Beverly Hills in October 1996.

Leslie Anne Hackman, 57
Leslie Anne Hackman, the youngest of Gene Hackman’s three children, was born in October 1966 to Hackman and his first wife, Faye Maltese. Like her older siblings, Leslie has maintained a relatively private life, though she has occasionally been seen in public with her father.
Over the years, she attended several notable events with Hackman, including the 41st Annual Golden Globe Awards in January 1984, the premiere of The Godfather Part III in December 1990, and the Class Action premiere in March 1991. Despite these glimpses into her life, Leslie has largely stayed out of the limelight.
