NEW DELHI: Seamer Arshdeep Singh will be hoping to reach an elusive milestone in the 20-over format as India gets ready to play South Africa in a four-match Twenty20 International series.
After playing his first Twenty20 International against England in 2022, Arshdeep now has 87 wickets from 56 matches at an economy rate of 8.28.
Arshdeep will aim to become the first Indian to capture 100 wickets in Twenty20 Internationals and the country’s top wicket-taker in the forthcoming series against the Proteas.
At an economy rate of 8.19 from 80 matches, Yuzvendra Chahal now holds the Indian record for most wickets (96) in Twenty20 Internationals.
It’s interesting to note that since both Arshdeep and Hardik Pandya have taken 87 wickets in Twenty20 Internationals, the all-rounder for India would be hoping to reach the same milestones.
In 105 20-over matches, Hardik has claimed 87 wickets at an economy rate of 8.17.
Kingsmead Cricket Stadium in Durban will host the start of the India vs. South Africa series on November 8.
The second Twenty20 International will take place at St George’s Park in Gqeberha on November 10; the third match will take place at SuperSport Park in Centurion on November 13. On November 15, Wanderers Stadium will host the fourth Twenty20 International to wrap up the series.
