Sega’s Gaming Division Bolsters Q2 Amid Overall Sales Decline

Sega a 3.2% year-on-year decline in net sales to ¥104.7 billion ($710.5 million) for the quarter ending June 30, 2024, but its video games segment performed robustly. Full game sales increased nearly 40%, generating ¥15.1 billion ($102.5 million), while the Entertainment Contents division, including video games, toys, and animation, saw a 34% sales increase to ¥72.7 billion ($493.3 million). This division exceeded expectations with strong DLC sales and favorable foreign exchange impacts. Upcoming releases, including Sonic X Shadow Generations and the third Sonic The Hedgehog movie, are expected to drive future growth. Additionally, Sega is expanding its Gaming Business through acquisitions, including US-based GAN Limited and Netherlands-based Stakelogic, focusing on casino and iGaming products.
