The last time Sonam Kapoor was seen on the big screen was in the 2019 film The Zoya Factor. Since then, the star whoensured she made a fashion statement every time she stepped out has been missing from films. However, post her delivery, Sonam has been eager to return to films with the official remake of the 2011 Korean film Blind. While initially the film was scheduled to release in theaters in 2022, it was delayed due to pandemic restrictions. Following this, the makers of Blind opted for an OTT release; however, it seems that the venture has been wading through troubled waters since then.

It is being said that the makers of Blind are having a difficult time getting any of the OTT platforms to agree to carry the film. A source says, “Originally, Blind was supposed to have a theatrical release, but because of the pandemic it was decided to just release it on OTT instead. Now, even though the theatrical release is still technically happening, the filmmakers are having trouble finding anyone who will actually pay to put it on their platform.” The source goes on to say that “The makers of Blind are hoping to sell the film for an impressive Rs. 40 cr,” but so far no one is biting.

The high asking amount is preventing OTT players from participating in the market. Though the film will continue with its theatrical release pattern, it is now only a formality before its sale to any streaming platform. However, with no OTT platform ready to pay Rs. 40 cr. to acquire the venture, the release of Blind appears to be uncertain.

The source went on to explain that OTT platforms are facing doubts because the makers of Blind have quoted a staggering Rs. 40 cr for streaming rights. According to the source, this is a risky investment for streaming platforms. Thesourceconcluded by saying that given the current state of affairs, it seems Blind is stuck in a bind.

The makers of Blind have not yet announced its release, but it is possible that the film will be acquired for a theatrical release. Blind was shot in Glasgow, Scotland from December 2020 to February 2021. The film was expected to be released directly to OTT (over-the-top media service) but the makers later decided on a theatrical release. However, they have since gone back to their original plan of releasing the film without a theatrical debut.
