RRR by SS Rajamouli was overlooked by BAFTA, whereas All That Breathes received a nomination for Best Documentary.

RRR, a historical action blockbuster from director S. S. Rajamouli, did not receive a nomination for the 2023 BAFTA awards on Thursday.

The film was on the longlist for the section “Film not in English language,” but it was unable to make it into the top five nominations. All Quiet on the Western Front, Argentina 1985, Corsage, Decision To Leave, and The Quiet Girl made up the category’s final list of candidates.

For the movie, which earlier this month won a Critics’ Choice Award for best foreign language picture and a Golden Globe for best original song for the Telugu song “Naatu Naatu,” the BAFTA rejection is a rare failure.

In the 1920s, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR), two real-life Indian rebels, are the subjects of the pre-independence fiction narrative RRR.
However, the Indian documentary All That Breathes was nominated for Best Documentary. The documentaries All The Beauty And The Bloodshed, Moonage Daydream, Fire of Love, and Navalny will all go up against Shaunak Sen’s work.

The Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre will host the 2023 BAFTA award ceremony on February 19. The final candidates for 24 categories, including best picture, cinematography, casting, documentary, film in a language other than English, and documentary feature film, were announced by the organisers on Thursday.
