Christina Applegate, an actress best known for portraying Amy Green, Rachel Green’s sister in the hit American sitcom “Friends,” is retaliating against sexist remarks made about her appearance.
According to “People” magazine, the actress, 51, claimed she contacted someone who left a remark on a recent post about her and her daughter attending the Critics Choice Awards on social media and received a disturbing reply in return.
Christina Applegate tweeted, “Sooooooooo I made the regrettable decision to read at some comments on a piece from ‘People’ about me and my kids at the CCA. Naturally, I informed her that that wasn’t polite. That was her response.
She posted an image of the messages the user seemed to send along with the tweet, which stated, “MS (multiple sclerosis) didn’t make you look that way; a plastic surgeon did. And you are not (Christina) Applegate; you are a con artist. “And a poor plastic surgeon at that,” read the second message. According to “People,” Christina Applegate attended her first awards ceremony since receiving the news of her MS diagnosis in 2021 at the 28th Critics Choice Awards in January.
She was up for best actress in a comedy series at the award, which Jean Smart won for her work in Hacks.
Applegate tweeted in advance of the event: “So this Sunday will be the first awards show I have attended since 2019. The first since MS. Nervous, too! But I’m appreciative that @CriticsChoice included me.
Following her first public appearance following her diagnosis at her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, where she was awarded a coveted star for her acting career, Applegate has been making more appearances lately.
