Did you know that after filming for her most recent project, Cate Blanchett wanted to stop acting?

Cate Blanchett considered retiring from acting after demanding last role

Hollywood actress Cate Blanchett admits that after playing the obsessive Lydia Tar in her most recent performance, she felt so exhausted and lonely for her own Australia that she contemplated giving up acting.

The 53-year-old actress is expected to win another Oscar for her role as an obsessive composer in “Tar,” but she admitted that it was so physically and emotionally taxing that she considered quitting her job.

“The Sunday Project,” an Australian television programme, quoted Cate Blanchett as saying: “I believe it was because it was such a physical part, the echoes of it are still with me and I guess I’m like a lot of audience members, I need time to digest it.

Naturally, I’ve had the privilege of working with some incredible filmmakers who have transformed my life, but when everything comes together in a way like that, it does remain with you. So I don’t ever want to work again, Cate Blanchett chuckled.

With her screenwriter husband Andrew Upton, 56, she has three kids and a daughter. Cate Blanchett said her career has taken her all over the world and has made her “profoundly homesick over the last four years,” and she longs to go back to her native Australia so she can garden and be near water.

“I’m quite preoccupied with water, like most Australians are,” she continued. I desire to be near and in the water.

“I’d wish to develop my patience and my ability to sit still and reflect. I really want to spend time in the garden with my mother because she lives with us and is an exceptional gardener, just as my grandmother was.

After winning the prize for her performance as a neurotic down-on-her-luck socialite in 2013’s “Blue Jasmine,” Blanchett is predicted to win it again for her role in “Tar.”

Natalie Murray Beale, the conductor of the orchestra who educated Cate for the role, claimed that Cate became so good that she could now conduct in real life. Her character Lydia Tar becomes the first female conductor of a German orchestra.
