India’s representative at the prestigious Miss Universe contest is Divita Rai. On January 14, the pageant will take place at the Ernest N. Moral Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, US, with more than 80 delegates contending for the title. Ms. Rai made a statement during the national costume round by wearing a golden attire.
The attire, which was created by Abhishek Sharma, symbolised “Sone Ki Chidiya,” or “the ethereal portrayal of India as the golden bird,” a symbol of the wealth of our rich cultural past and the spiritual essence of living in harmony with diversity.
Abhishek Sharma, the outfit’s designer, discussed it in an Instagram post. He noted: “The bright gold metallic hand decorations are a perfect illustration of our artists’ greatest work. The lehenga is comprised of a hand-woven tissue material from Madhya Pradesh’s Chandheri District, and the drape embodies the idea of a contemporary India.”
Added he, “The wings stand for the strength of feeding and care that India has shown to the people of the world during difficult times as it took care of them and stood as a support with the idea of “One World One Family.”
The national dress represents modern India and its commitment to progressive thought in its purest form.”
