Anurag Kashyap, the director, recently expressed regret for turning down the request of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput to work with him. Anurag had disclosed shortly after Sushant’s passing that he had declined to consult with him over a project since SSR had previously ghosted him.
Anurag claimed in an interview with Showsha that it took him “a year and a half of sickness” to realise that he is reacting out of anger when discussing his disputes with actors Abhay Deol and Sushant Singh Rajput. At that point, he took a step back and considered what was bothering him.
Since then, a lot has changed, and Anurag acknowledged that he has lost his filter. He claimed that just three weeks prior to the incident, someone had tried to contact him because SSR wanted to talk to him, and he felt awful when he learned of his death. Sushant had ghosted Anurag, which infuriated him. You get remorse sensations, he was reported as saying. Anurag then made an effort to get in touch with Abhay and apologise to him.
In a 2020 interview with NDTV, Anurag acknowledged that he was disappointed that Sushant had abandoned his projects to work on Shuddh Desi Romance with YRF.
He disclosed that Mukesh Chhabra, the casting director, had contacted Sushant in 2016 prior to the release of MS Dhoni: The Untold Story and had informed him that Kashyap was seeking an actor who could play someone situated in Uttar Pradesh. He was never called back by Sushant. Anurag claimed he wasn’t angry and went on to work on Mukkabaaz with a different actor.
Dobaaraa, a science fiction mystery thriller starring Taapsee Pannu and Pavail Gulati, was Anurag’s most recent production. Next up is Alaya F and rookie Karan Mehta in the film Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat.
