The Flash will speed into theaters a little earlier than expected. On Monday, Warner Bros. set a new release date of June 16, 2023 for the film. It was previously slated for June 23, 2023, and the new date gives it more breathing room ahead of the release of Disney’s Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which bows on June 30.
Ezra Miller stars as Barry Allen/The Flash in the feature. The Flash also stars Michael Keaton, back as Batman for the first time since 1992, as well as Ben Affleck, also playing a version of Batman. It will also introduce Sasha Calle as Supergirl.
Star Miller has been at the center of various controversies this year, which culminated in the ator apologizing Aug. 15, 2022 and in a statement, saying they were seeking help for mental health issues.
Miller is a holdover of the DCEU as they played the character starting in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and then Justice League. The solo movie has long been expected to adapt The Flashpoint storyline and potentially re-configure the DC universe.
The alternate timeline storyline would explain how both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton can be in The Flash, both playing different versions of Batman. The movie also includes Sasha Calle as Supergirl.
It’s unclear what the DC universe will look like once The Flash finally premieres and potentially rewrites the DC universe. The movie, which has resisted calls for cancellation after Miller’s arrest, could set the stage nicely for a clean slate that will allow new DC co-presidents James Gunn and Peter Safran to imprint their own designs on the DC universe.
With the ninth season, `The Flash` becomes one of the longest-running shows on The CW. `Supernatural`, by comparison, ran for 15 seasons but began its run on The WB before it became The CW.
“The Flash” began airing on CW after the switch, airing its first episode in 2014.
Along with this, the show becomes DC Comics` longest-running show on The CW followed by `Arrow` with eight seasons and `Legends of Tomorrow` with seven seasons.
