Drishyam 2, fronted by Ajay Devgn, is breaking all records at the box office. Production banner Panorama Studios shared the latest worldwide box office figures of the suspense thriller movie on its Twitter handle.
The movie has raked in a grand total of $5.78 million in the overseas box office gross collection. These numbers comprise a $600k collection of the third weekend in the international market.
Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 2 is the respite Hindi box office had been waiting for after the lull phase. The film has been successfully running in theaters for two weeks and has managed to attract huge footfalls to the cinemas that have converted into impressive collections. At the end of its third Friday, Drishyam 2 has emerged as a blockbuster.
Ajay Devgn’s film has collected around Rs 4-4.25 crore nett on its third Friday, reports Box Office India. The film has crossed the Rs 160 crore mark which is excellent for third Friday. The collections are behind KGF 2 and RRR, but in the same range as The Kashmir Files. Drishyam 2 is likely to do better than Brahmastra over the weekend, the report further stated.
If the film manages to beat Brahamstra, it will become the highest grossing Hindi film post pandemic.
On the other hand, new release of the week An Action Hero collected only Rs 1.25 crore nett as per early estimates.
Drishyam 2, directed by Abhishek Pathak, had a bumper opening at the ticket windows on November 18 with Rs 15.38 crore. Gradually, the film increased at the box office collection as fans continued to flock to the theaters to watch the sequel of Drishyam. After entering the Rs 100-crore club in just seven days, the film is all set to cross the Rs 200-crore club now. On Day 18, December 5, Drishyam 2 collected Rs 3 crore at the box office, which is comparatively low. However, since it was a Monday, this fall was expected. The film has managed to mint a total of Rs 189.77 crore at the domestic ticket windows, according to trade reports. Meanwhile, Drishyam 2 had an overall 10.88 per cent Hindi occupancy on Day 18.
Drishyam is an emotional thriller that deals with the story of a cable operator, Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay), whose life revolves around cinema and his family; wife Nandini (Shriya Saran) and daughters Anju and Anu. Tabu plays the role of IG Meera Deshmukh in the film. In Drishyam, Ajay played Vijay Salgaonkar, who protects his family at all costs after his daughter accidentally kills a boy.
After disposing of the boy’s body, Vijay removes all traces of proof and then takes a family trip to Panaji. They visit an Ashram, watch a film, and eat at a restaurant, creating their alibis. Drishyam is the Hindi remake of hit Malayalam flick of the same name, which was helmed by National-Award-winning director Nishikant Kamat. Drishyam 2, directed by Abhishek Pathak, follows the story after that.
